Abstract

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has been widely recognized as an effective intervention for addressing core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children, focusing on behavior modification and skill development. This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluates the efficacy of ABA in improving communication, social interaction, and adaptive behavior in children with ASD. Through a comprehensive review of the literature, the meta-analysis synthesizes effect sizes from RCTs assessing the effectiveness of ABA compared to control conditions (e.g., treatment as usual, developmental interventions) in targeting ASD symptoms and associated impairments. Additionally, it examines potential moderators of treatment outcomes, such as treatment intensity, duration, therapist training, and participant characteristics (e.g., age, cognitive level), to better understand the factors influencing the effectiveness of ABA for ASD.
