Abstract

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has emerged as a widely used intervention for reducing stress and enhancing psychological well-being. This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluates the efficacy of MBSR in reducing stress levels and promoting psychological well-being in various populations. Through an extensive review of the literature, the meta-analysis synthesizes effect sizes from RCTs assessing the effectiveness of MBSR compared to control conditions (e.g., waitlist, treatment as usual) in targeting stress-related outcomes, including perceived stress, anxiety, depression, and quality of life. Additionally, it examines potential moderators of treatment outcomes, such as intervention duration, frequency of sessions, level of instructor involvement, and participant characteristics (e.g., clinical vs. non-clinical samples), to better understand the factors influencing the effectiveness of MBSR for stress reduction and psychological well-being.
