Abstract

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is widely recognized as an effective treatment for anxiety disorders, but the magnitude of its effectiveness across different anxiety disorders and populations remains unclear. This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examines the overall effectiveness of CBT in reducing anxiety symptoms and improving clinical outcomes. Drawing from a comprehensive review of the literature, the meta-analysis synthesizes effect sizes from RCTs that assess the efficacy of CBT compared to control conditions or other active treatments. Additionally, it explores potential moderators of treatment effectiveness, such as treatment format, duration, and therapist characteristics, to identify factors that may enhance the efficacy of CBT interventions.
