Abstract

Sleep quality is recognized as a critical factor influencing mental health outcomes, including depression, anxiety, and overall psychological well-being. This systematic review and meta-analysis examine the relationship between sleep quality and mental health across diverse populations and settings. Drawing from a comprehensive search of the literature, the review synthesizes evidence from observational studies, longitudinal analyses, and intervention trials to elucidate the bidirectional relationship between sleep quality and mental health outcomes. Additionally, it explores potential mechanisms underlying this relationship, such as sleep architecture, circadian rhythms, and neurobiological pathways, and identifies implications for intervention and clinical practice.
