Abstract

Access to safe drinking water is essential for human health and well-being, yet millions of people worldwide are exposed to water contaminated with pollutants. This review examines the current challenges facing water quality management and its implications for public health. It discusses common water pollutants, including pathogens, heavy metals, and organic chemicals, and their associated health risks, such as gastrointestinal illness, neurological disorders, and cancer. The review also explores various approaches to improving water quality, including water treatment technologies, watershed management, and regulatory measures. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of community engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing water quality issues and safeguarding public health.
