Abstract

Health informatics and electronic health records (EHRs) play a pivotal role in modern healthcare delivery by facilitating efficient documentation, communication, and management of patient health information. This paper explores the applications of health informatics and EHRs in enhancing healthcare delivery across clinical settings. Key topics include the functionalities and features of EHR systems, including electronic prescribing, clinical decision support, and interoperability standards. Additionally, the paper discusses the benefits of EHR adoption, such as improved patient safety, enhanced care coordination, and population health management. Furthermore, the paper examines challenges associated with EHR implementation, including privacy concerns, data security issues, and user interface design considerations. By synthesizing evidence from empirical studies and best practices in health informatics, this paper aims to underscore the transformative potential of EHRs in optimizing healthcare workflows, enhancing patient outcomes, and promoting data-driven decision-making in clinical practice.
