Climate-Smart Agriculture: Adapting to Climate Change
Abstract
Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) represents a holistic approach to farming that aims to increase agricultural productivity, enhance resilience to climate change, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. This paper provides an overview of CSA principles, practices, and technologies, emphasizing the importance of integrating climate adaptation, mitigation, and food security objectives into agricultural planning and management. It discusses the role of diversified cropping systems, agroforestry, soil and water conservation, and improved crop varieties in building climate resilience and promoting sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
